Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh

Water is integral to human survival and its availability is very limited in many parts of the world. Climate change can have a severe impact on rainfall patterns, seasonal regularity, and groundwater availability, which in turn can lead to lapses in food availability, employment opportunities, and sanitation, for example. Studying water is important because the supply will be further impacted in the coming years by climate change. Water-related weather events such as monsoons, which can lead to the flooding of crop fields and homes, and droughts will also become more severe and unpredictable. Knowing what kinds of problems various regions are facing related to water and climate change can make it easier to raise awareness in order to prepare more adequately and raise awareness about the situation. The Sahariya Tribal community, located in the region of Shivpuri is particularly vulnerable to climate change.These notes were produced through close collaboration with a field partner on the ground in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh.
